Bible Study - Romans 1
S - Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

O - Commentary:
The truth of God is not only the truth concerning God but also God’s truth concerning all things, including mankind. This truth is that people are creatures of God and can find true fulfillment only in worshiping and obediently serving God the Creator. A lie (lit., “the lie”) on the other hand says that the creature—angelic (Isa. 14:13–14; John 8:44) or human (Gen. 3:4–5)—can exist independent of God, self-sufficient, self-directing, and self-fulfilling. Mankind made himself his god in place of the true God. Because God the Creator is forever praised (in contrast with creatures who are undeserving of worship), Paul added Amen. This word transliterates in both Greek and English the Hebrew word meaning “so let it be.” As an affirmation, not a wish, it places approval on what has just been said

A - "Exchanged the truth for a lie." That's a gut punch. God is the Truth. His Word, His Spirit, His presence — all of it points back to Him as Creator, rightfully seated above everything. So when we put something else in that seat, we're not upgrading. We're settling for a counterfeit. We make the trade for comfort. For control. For self. And here's the hard part: God lets us make it. He won't force our worship. That's not weakness — that's love with a spine. Real love always leaves room to walk away.
R - Heavenly Father, You are Lord and Creator — today, right now, over everything. Forgive us for the things we've propped up higher than You. Where we've exchanged Your truth for a lie, we repent. We put You back in Your rightful place. Holy Spirit, do Your work in us. Keep drawing us closer, one day at a time. Amen.
