Bible Study - 2 Thessalonians 2
S – So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 ESV
O – Commentary:
They were to stand firm (stēkete; cf. 1 Cor. 16:13; 1 Thes. 3:8). Christians are in constant danger of being swept downstream by the currents of ungodly culture. They are also prone to let the truths they know and the relationship they enjoy with God grow cold. They need to vigorously hold to what they have been taught by God's servants. The Thessalonians were in danger of loosening their grip on the apostles' teachings which they had received (cf. 2 Thes. 3:6) in person from the missionaries and from their letters. They were in danger of slipping backward in their Christian experience because of the pressures of their trials and the daily negative influences of the world, the flesh, and the devil

A – Paul wrote this to the Thessalonians. It fits us perfectly.
We live in a culture that pulls against our faith every day. You don't have to jump into the current to get swept away. You just have to stop holding on.
That's the danger. Truth we once held tightly can grow cold. Our grip loosens. And slowly, almost without noticing, we drift.
So what do we do? We stand firm. We hold on to what God has given us in His Word. Not once in a while. Daily. Open the Book. Pray. Stay connected to God's people. Say yes to the Holy Spirit when He nudges you.
And keep growing. A faith that isn't growing is a faith that's drifting.
That's how we beat the enemy's plan. Know God. Know His Word. Walk with the Holy Spirit. And live today in a way that honors Him.
R – Heavenly Father, the battle is real. You created all things, and You hold all things together. We want to stand firm. Strengthen our grip on Your Word. Keep us rooted in our faith, grounded in truth, and filled with Your Spirit. Help us live today in a way that honors You. In Jesus' name, amen.
