S - So Joshua said to the people of Israel, “How long will you put off going in to take possession of the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? 4 Provide three men from each tribe, and I will send them out that they may set out and go up and down the land. They shall write a description of it with a view to their inheritances, and then come to me. 5 They shall divide it into seven portions

O - Commentary:

Seven were still without homes, apparently content to continue a nomadic and purposeless existence such as they had experienced in the wilderness. Their listlessness provoked Joshua who took steps to prod them into action. He reproached them sharply: How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? Apparently the tribes were to initiate matters relating to territorial allocations. Joshua probably viewed every passing day as a day lost in the program of completely occupying the land, a day in which the enemy could return or become more firmly entrenched.

A — Israel stood in the promised land. Free from slavery. Yet they lived like they were still in the wilderness — bound, stuck, passive. Sound familiar? We do the same thing. God gave us total freedom through the blood of Jesus. Full access. Yet we settle. We let old patterns control us instead of walking in what's already ours. Freedom isn't automatic — it's something we have to take possession of. What are you tolerating today that Jesus already defeated?

R — Father, you alone are God. No one compares to you. Give us the courage to move toward freedom in the areas we've let control us. We don't want to keep living in bondage to things you've already given us dominion over. Not today. We want to walk in victory — starting now.
