Bible Study - Hebrews 13:5

S – Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 ESV

O - A – Money is a tool. That’s it. It’s there to provide for our needs, and even some of our wants, in a way that honors God. Contentment lets us enjoy what God has given and rest in it. And when fear shows up and whispers, “What if it’s not enough?”, God answers with a promise: I will never leave you. His presence doesn’t move, and neither does his provision.

This verse sounds simple, but all three parts are a fight.

Money is alluring because in our culture it’s about more than provision. It turns into our image, our status, even our identity. Contentment can look like laziness, especially now, when everyone has a side hustle and “more” is the default goal. And God’s presence? We can’t see him or touch him. Trusting a promise we can’t see takes faith.

That’s the point of Hebrews. Jesus is better: better than what money buys, better than what the hustle promises, and closer than what we can see. Faith in him answers all three struggles. Now, we need take it off the page and live it.

R – Heavenly Father, you are steadfast. You never leave us, and you never let us go. Thank you for the strong promise of your presence. Help us live from that promise today, with confidence, humility, and peace. Free our hearts from the love of money, and teach us to be content in you. We want to honor you today. Amen.
